Atelier Wen

Prosper Welcomes Atelier Wen: A Celebration of Chinese Craftsmanship

At Prosper, we have always been passionate about true craftsmanship, and our boutiques in Brussels are a testament to this dedication.

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Atelier Wen, a brand that embodies our shared commitment to quality and horological savoir-faire.

This collaboration is not just about adding another brand to our collection; it’s about celebrating a brand that resonates with our philosophy of demystifying luxury.

What Makes Atelier Wen So Special

Atelier Wen is a harmonious blend of French vision and Chinese craftsmanship.

Founded by two close friends from France, Robin Tallendier and Wilfried Buiron, the brand is a testament to their shared passion for Chinese culture and horology.

Robin, with his extensive experience in the watch industry, including his tenure at the French Chamber of Watchmaking in Shanghai and Christie’s in London, brings a deep understanding of horological intricacies.

On the other hand, Wilfried, born in Hong Kong and a graduate from China’s top institutes, Peking University and Tsinghua University, bridges the gap between design and execution, ensuring that every timepiece is a reflection of Chinese soul and craftsmanship.

Together, they form the perfect duo, with Robin as the creative visionary and Wilfried as the executional maestro. Their combined efforts have given birth to a brand that pays tribute to Chinese craftsmanship in its purest form.

Every dial, meticulously handcrafted by Master Cheng, showcases the brand’s dedication to the age-old art of guilloché, a craft mastered by fewer than 30 artisans worldwide.

Atelier Wen’s designs are not just timepieces; they are stories of China’s rich cultural heritage, narrated through the hands of master craftsmen and the vision of its founders.

The Collection

The “Perception” stands out as Atelier Wen’s flagship model, a testament to the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and design.

Each Perception dial is a masterpiece, taking Master Cheng a staggering 8 hours to produce using a rose engine of his own design.

The hypnotic interplay of straight and curved lines in the fish scale pattern is a celebration of light and shadow, showcasing the brand’s mastery over the art of guilloché.

The Perception collection offers various models, including the PIAO, XIA, and YING, each with its distinct charm and character.

Place the dial under a magnifier

We invite you to visit our boutiques in Brussels and experience the magic of Atelier Wen firsthand.

Place the dial under a magnifier, and you’ll be mesmerized by the intricate details and the passion that goes into every timepiece.

At Prosper, we believe in celebrating brands that bring true craftsmanship to the forefront, and Atelier Wen is a shining example of this philosophy.

Join us in this journey of horological excellence and discover what makes Atelier Wen truly special.

Prosper is now Moritz Grossmann authorized dealer

PROSPER is proud to announce its new status as an authorized dealer of Moritz Grossmann. The presence Moritz Grossman enhances our curated collection of watch brands from the Glashütte region in Germany, standing alongside esteemed names such as Nomos and Glashütte Original.

Founded in 2008, the brand takes its name from a 19th-century master watchmaker, Moritz Grossmann. While the company’s current iteration is relatively young, it draws inspiration from Grossmann’s contributions to watchmaking and the legacy of Glashütte’s watchmaking traditions.

What makes Moritz Grossmann watches so unique?

The Design

Their watches strike a balance between traditional Glashütte watchmaking and contemporary aesthetics.

The watches proudly carry the traditions of Glashütte watchmaking, which includes three-quarter plates, screwed gold chatons, and hand-engraved balance cocks, among other features.

Each watch is meticulously crafted by hand. The brand takes immense pride in the manual production of their watches, ensuring precision and perfection in every piece.

Innovation

Moritz Grossmann is known for introducing innovative technical solutions in their watches. For example, they’ve incorporated unique mechanisms for setting the time and winding the watch.

Main collections

BENU

The BENU collection was one of the earliest offerings from Moritz Grossmann after its re-establishment.

Named after the ancient Egyptian deity associated with the Sun and rebirth, the collection signifies a new dawn or beginning for the company.

The design is clean, elegant, and embodies the brand’s ethos of simplicity combined with sophistication. Many models in this collection showcase the brand’s innovative technical features.

BENU is characterized by lancet-shaped hands, which are one of Moritz Grossmann’s signature features.

TEFNUT

The TEFNUT collection brings a more feminine touch to the Moritz Grossmann lineup, though not exclusively. Tefnut is another name borrowed from ancient Egyptian mythology, referring to the goddess of dew and rain.

TEFNUT watches usually have a slimmer profile and often incorporate more decorative elements than other collections. This includes intricate guilloché patterns on the dial, gem-set bezels, and unique hand shapes. The design retains the brand’s penchant for elegance and simplicity.

tefnut lady twist

Like the BENU, TEFNUT watches often use manual wind movements, though designed to fit the distinct cases and design ethos of this line. The movements continue the brand’s tradition of high-quality craftsmanship and finish.

About Glashütte Original

Glashütte is above all the name of a city in Germany. In the middle of the 19th century, this city became the cradle of the German watch industry. As a matter of fact, there was even a school for watchmaking. Ultimately, it was the craftsmanship that made this city famous.

This quality persists to this day. Besides Nomos, A. Lange & Söhne, as well as Moritz Grossman, have their factories there. Glashütte Original evolved into what it is today during the nineties. This brand specializes in luxury watches of high quality.

Unlike a mechanical watch, this self-winding watch develops its own movement, and its finish is absolutely exquisite.

Let Bryan guide you through the different collections of the brand in this YouTube video.

Discover the Glashütte Original SeaQ 39mm

A unique blend of comfort, precision, craftsmanship, and vintage charm.

The Glashütte Original SeaQ is a remarkable timepiece that masterfully combines precision, aesthetics, and functionality. Embodying the spirit of German watchmaking, the SeaQ model is not only a technical watch par excellence but also a perfect blend of retro-vintage design and modern practicality.

One of the standout features of the SeaQ is its size. At a comfortable 39mm, it hits the sweet spot that makes it the perfect fit for any wrist. This size is neither too large to be ostentatious nor too small to be unreadable. It offers an optimal balance between visibility and comfort, ensuring that it feels as good as it looks.

The SeaQ is a testament to Glashütte’s commitment to impeccable finish and detail. Every millimeter of this watch, from the polished bezel to the brushed case, from the intricately engraved case back to the galvanized dial, is finished with an eye for perfection. This meticulous attention to detail is apparent at first glance and is sure to impress even the most discerning watch aficionados.

As a technical watch, the SeaQ excels in its performance. Equipped with Glashütte’s in-house automatic movement, it provides exceptional accuracy and reliability. Its robust construction, complete with a screw-down crown and a uni-directional rotating bezel, ensures water resistance up to 200 meters, making it an ideal companion for diving and other water activities.

The SeaQ’s design takes inspiration from Glashütte’s vintage models from the 1960s, giving it a distinctly retro appeal. The numerals, indexes, and hands are all styled in a nostalgic manner, and are coated with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility under all lighting conditions. The result is a watch that respects its historical roots while meeting the demands of modern times.

In addition to these remarkable features, the SeaQ also boasts a quick-adjust strap mechanism for the ultimate convenience. Whether you opt for a steel bracelet, a rubber strap, or a nylon mesh band, you can easily adjust your watch to fit perfectly around your wrist.

Glashutte Panomatic Lunar

Discover the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar: Elegance, Precision, and German Craftsmanship

The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar belongs to the Pano collection, which is characterized by its asymmetrical dial layout and focus on mechanical complications.

The PanoMaticLunar features an elegant and sophisticated design, with an off-center hour and minute display, a small seconds sub-dial, and a large date display. The watch also features a moon phase complication, which adds to its overall aesthetic appeal.

The watch is powered by an in-house automatic movement, the Glashütte Original Calibre 90-02. This movement is known for its precision, reliability, and excellent finishing. It has a 42-hour power reserve and features hand-engraved balance cocks, beveled edges, and Glashütte stripes.

The PanoMaticLunar comes in various case materials, such as stainless steel and rose gold, with a variety of dial and strap options to choose from. The case size is typically around 40mm, making it suitable for a wide range of wrist sizes.

The watch features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on both the front and the back, providing a clear view of the dial and the beautifully finished movement with its signature duplex swan-neck fine adjustment.

The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar is a stunning luxury watch that combines excellent craftsmanship, a unique design, and a reliable in-house movement. It’s a great option for watch enthusiasts who appreciate the brand’s rich history and German watchmaking tradition.

What are the Differences between the PanoLunar and the PanoInverse?

The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar and PanoInverse are both part of the Pano collection, which is known for its asymmetrical dial design and focus on mechanical complications. While they share some similarities, there are distinct differences between the two models:

The PanoInverse is unique in that it showcases the watch’s movement and its components on the dial side. The most notable feature is the exposed balance bridge and balance wheel, which are usually hidden in the movement. The PanoInverse also has an off-center hour and minute display and a small seconds sub-dial, but it does not have a date or moon phase complication.

The PanoInverse features the in-house manually wound movement, Glashütte Original Calibre 66-08. This movement is designed specifically for the PanoInverse to showcase the balance bridge and balance wheel on the dial side. Like the Calibre 90-02, the Calibre 66-08 is known for its precision and high-quality finishing.

The PanoMaticLunar typically comes in a 40mm case, while the PanoInverse has a slightly larger case, around 42mm.

In summary, the main differences between the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar and PanoInverse lie in their dial layout, complications, and movements. The PanoMaticLunar focuses on a more classic design with a moon phase complication, while the PanoInverse offers a unique view of the movement’s components on the dial side. Both models are excellent examples of the craftsmanship and design that Glashütte Original is known for.

What makes Zenith so special

In the course of its history, Zenith has remained true to its mission. More than a century has passed since Zenith became dominated by the quest for precision.

zenith el primero with caramel molequin strap

A product of this perseverance is the El Primero movement. The latter is a high-frequency chronograph capable of mechanically measuring up to the 10th of a second.

zenith el primero panda dial on the wrist with blue dawn molequin strap

When it was released in 1969, it was the very first automatic chronograph. However, the quartz crisis almost led to the disappearance of this movement.

One of the original watchmakers who worked on the El Primero (movement), Charles Vermot, has been responsible for its preservation.

zenith el primero the wrist with natural nubs molequin strap

When Zenith decided to discontinue the El Primero in the mid-1970s, Charles Vermot stored the plans and machinery in a hidden attic on the factory premises. Ten years later, it was this passionate act that helped relaunch the manufacture of this movement.

Rarely does a manufacturer use original parts to restore old models. Zenith is one of them. Passionate teams use the organization’s archive and component collections to accomplish this incredible feat.

What makes Omega so special

No other brand can match Omega’s innovation and longevity. The brand has been measuring the Olympics consistently since 1932, striving relentlessly for precision.

In 1959, Gerald Genta was commissioned by the brand to redesign its Constellations range.

In 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin rode the Speedmaster all the way to the moon.

What Omega watches delivered in this key moment proved their know-how and reliability.

At the dawn of the 21st century, George Daniels unveiled the co-axial escapement, a technology that limits friction and increases precision. A 20-year effort went into developing this innovation.

Today, Omega watches can be found on the wrists of stars like Rory Mcllroy and Daniel Craig.

Gautier Massonneau began his career in engineering after purchasing his first watch. During his research in the field, he couldn’t help but notice there was a gap between innovation and tradition.

Although he founded Trilobe in 2013, it wasn’t until 2018 that the first collection, Les Matinaux, was released.

Gautier’s inspirations are drawn from poetry and architecture (the child of an architect). As a matter of fact, traditional hands are not used in Trilobe watches.

This timepiece actually displays minutes and hours by means of rotating discs that move according to three fixed indexes.

Interestingly, for the third consecutive year, the brand received a nomination in the small hands category (which is paradoxical since Trilobe watches do not feature hands).

Watches & Wonders has also invited the brand to participate in the watchmakers’ section in 2022.

Hereunder you will see Gautier Massonneau about the highlights of Trilobe at Watches and Wonders 2023.
