Panerai

A short overview about Panerai

With their distinctive cases and crown covers, Panerai watches are timeless and distinctive. Panerai draws inspiration from the world of diving. Panerai supplied the Regia Marina, more commonly known as the Italian Royal Navy.

Invented by Panerai, the radiomir is a luminescent substance that makes it possible to tell time underwater. Watches such as Panerai are objects one buys for oneself; you won’t see them everywhere.

The Philosophy of H. Moser & Cie

The art of fine watchmaking is often associated with a certain degree of conservatism.

Well, thanks to Moser & Cie, this is no longer true. In evidence of this is the eraser watch, whose small hand appears to have erased the logo and indexes.

Also worth mentioning is the Swiss Alp Watch, which came to troll the Apple Watch.

Despite breaking design codes, the brand has dazzled us with uncompromising watchmaking execution for ten years.

Eventually, Moser & Cie was taken over by the Meylan family, whose father previously served as CEO of Audermars Piguet.

There is an instantly recognizable design associated with Moser & Cie models, which belong to the sport-chic watch category. Smoky dials, colored dials, watches with no logos – that’s them.

Women’s wrists can wear the iconic Serpenti range that pays homage to ancient Egypt.

You will find many iconic watches on the male wrist side, including the Bvlgari Bvulgari, the Octo Roma and above all the Octo Finissimo.

The latter has been designed to offer men a watch with an exclusive design that embodies contemporary elegance.

Watches that were easy to wear were needed. Designing the Octo Finissimo Octagonally was not enough, it also had to be thin. The release date was set for 2017.

Panthere

The Panthère de Cartier, first introduced in the 1980s, is a distinctive design that doubles as a watch and a piece of jewellery.

This iconic timepiece is defined by its versatility, blending geometric lines with the curves of gemstones.

The watch is a marriage of symmetry, structure, and smooth movements, mirroring the Maison’s emblematic animal, the panther.

With its square dial, rounded corners, and gold-link bracelet, the Panthère de Cartier is a perfect blend of bold curves and brick-like form.

Over the years, it has been embraced by cultural icons and continues to resonate with a new generation, making it a timeless piece in Cartier’s collection.

Santos

The Cartier Santos, first introduced in 1904, is the first-ever men’s wristwatch, created by Louis Cartier for the renowned aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.

The watch was designed to allow Santos-Dumont to tell the time without taking his hands off the controls while flying.

Its distinctive features include a square case and visible screws on the bezel, which were inspired by the rivets on the fuselage of aircraft.

Cartier Santos steel blue

Over the years, the Santos has been reimagined in various forms. In 1978, it reappeared in a luxury sports version with a two-tone bracelet.

In 2004, the Santos 100 was launched to mark the centenary of its debut, featuring a bold three-hander design.

In 2018, a fully renewed collection was introduced, featuring a redesigned case and bezel, and a new self-winding 1847 MC movement.

Cartier Santos steel

The Santos also introduced self-adjustment via QuickSwitch and SmartLink, allowing the wearer to easily swap straps and adjust the bracelet’s size.

Today, the Santos collection includes various models, from steel to gold, and even skeletonized options, making it a versatile and enduring icon in Cartier’s watch collection.

Ballon Bleu

The Cartier Ballon Bleu, introduced in 2007, is a unique timepiece that effortlessly blends classic Cartier design elements with a playful twist.

The name, which translates to “Blue Balloon,” is inspired by the watch’s round sapphire cabochon crown that appears to float like a balloon.

The watch’s clean silver dial features Roman numerals and railroad tracks, maintaining the “Cartier DNA” we know and love.

The Ballon Bleu is available in a variety of sizes, from 26mm to 42mm, and in different metals, making it a versatile choice for any watch enthusiast.

Its distinctive design, which includes a large, round cabochon crown guard at three o’clock, sets it apart from other watches.

Despite its relatively recent introduction, the Ballon Bleu has become a mainstay of the Cartier collection and is a popular choice among celebrities and royalty alike.

Pasha

The Cartier Pasha, first commissioned in the 1930s by the Pasha of Marrakech, is a robust yet elegant timepiece.

It was reborn in 1985 with a round design, a large 38mm case, wide bezel, and a screw-down crown.

Over the years, it has seen various additions, including chronographs, GMT models, and even a perpetual calendar.

One iconic model features a yellow gold case with a protective grill and the signature “Figaro” bracelet.

Cartier Pasha Pink Gold on watch box

In 2020, the Pasha celebrated its 35th anniversary with a new generation of watches, available in steel, yellow gold, and rose gold, showcasing Cartier’s mastery of blending tradition with modern tastes.

From the elegant Roman numerals to the sapphire cabochon winding mechanism, every element is carefully considered to create a harmonious and luxurious experience.

What make Cartier watches so unique?

Considering Cartier is synonymous with French refinement, it’s interesting to remember that a Belgian contributed to the emergence of the brand’s iconic image.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Jeanne Toussaint, who was known as ”La Panthère,” created the brooch that carries her nickname. Since then, the panther has been a recurring theme at Cartier for both jewelry and watches.

It was also aviator Albert Santos-Dumont who wore a Cartier watch in 1904. Using it would enable him to time his flights without having to let go of the controls.

In those days, only women wore wristwatches. After that, the aviator regularly displayed his watch, now a symbol of aviation.

Looking back, we could almost consider this to be the first example of influencer marketing.

Its expertise in shaped watches makes Cartier a household name in watchmaking for its curved, rectangular, even asymmetrical designs.

Wearing it brings a sense of elegance, Cartier is a timeless household name that you can trust.

Having spent many years working there before joining forces with Brice (PROSPER co-founder), Jean-Baptiste (PROSPER co-founder) has a particular fondness for the brand.
